Since as long as, “Big Marv” could remember he’s been a writer. It was only in the year 2000 he was introduced to a genre of music entitled conscience rap by a close colleague and friend Bobby Ward President of Ubiquitous Entertainment. Bobby Ward better known as , “Bob Cat” then convinced Big Marv to put some of his poetry to music and sparked a new interest in him. But, after the introduction of artist like KRS ONE, and Talib Kweli with Reflection eternal he was hooked on the culture of hip hop. With his background being that of a preachers kid naturally Big Marv gravitated toward conscience rap more than other genres of rap music. Because of its thought provoking subject matters and complex lyrical arrangements he felt that these artist were some how set apart from the rest. He began calling them MC’s on the first level of truth. Meaning they knew it was some cosmic power bigger then themselves but, they didn’t quite know what or how to reach it. After fully accepting Christ into his life in 2003 he was fortunate to meet two holy hip hoppers that introduced him to a world of music that he never knew existed. Immediately Big Marv felt that he could be a great benefit in this ministry so he started Burning Bush Productions, Inc. beginning the pursuit of spreading the gospel thru lyrics, kicks, and snares. In February of 2004 he released a CD, and began performing on the underground scene long side gospel and none gospel acts alike. His plan is to flood the world with great gospel music. His dream is to market his music in away that allows Holy Hip Hop music to be played on major radio stations, top ten video count downs, and sold on retail store shelves in the hip hop section as well as the gospel section. His goal is to accomplish thrusting Holy Hip Hop in to pop culture on a mass level. Knowing that pop culture influences our entire societies way of thinking youth and adults alike. Its Big Marv goal to have Holy Hip Hop become an undeniable phenomenon within pop culture, and today’s society.
