This is Cincinnati. Kayo Montana and many young artists like him are ready to show the world what this Ohio city has to offer. Showing off his talents that reflect humble beginnings, a rough street upbringing and the truth, this up and coming rap artist is ready to prove that hard work and determination yields success. Born Brandon Fletcher and raised by a single mom, Kayo Montana takes his style of street rap and trap music to a different level. As a kid Kayo discovered he had talent and received encouragement to pursue music from his family and friends. But surrounded by violence, drugs and poverty, his life took a different route. In 2008 he was sentenced to serve 4 years in prison on gun and drug charges. Now that he is home he is determined to get his city on the map and change his life and the lives of his children and family. Part of that family being his music label Mid South Music group (MSMG). He formed this label with childhood friends and cousins Gold Cartier and Bugatti Breeze. As these 3 young men began to perform together and travel from city to city, people would always comment on how their sound was like Southern rappers. They would explain that "in Cincinnati, we got our own swagg. So we called it Mid South. A lil bit from the South and a lil bit from the Mid West." Kayo raps for the love of music, for the love of what's real and for the love of his city. A city that stands strong behind his work and his story. Working with local artists such as newly signed Lantana, Young Rome, Band Camp and Young Butta amongst others, Kayo Montana longs to be understood and respected for his thoughts and points of view. Currently, he is working on his first project to be released very soon. As he puts in long days and nights in studios across the city, he keeps his dream of a better life and a legitimate lifestyle as his motivation. He also believes that creating dreams that his children and all young people in Cincinnati can actually see come true is also important.
