Bio
From its humble beginnings, Hip Hop culture has been an influential force across the states. So it’s no wonder that its made such a strong impact in a city mainly known for its technology and coffee. Seattle-based rapper Jason Morris, simply known as JEI has long been and continues to work on his music career as a recording artist and entrepreneur. In middle school, he would sell candy during class. Already understanding the concept of supply and demand, he would listen to his peers about what products they wanted, purchasing it and selling it at a equilibrium price to make quite a profit. Born of African American and Filipino decent, His first foray into music was at age 12 when his cousin, Seattle based singer R’Shonn Johnson, asked him to be in his R&B group called IMMACI as the rapper. This experience ignited his passion to be an MC. Through out high school he worked with the R&B group on different projects and was featured on a multitude of mix tapes and other artist’s songs. In 2002 he relocated to Las Vegas for college and at that point decided to go solo. As a communications-broadcasting major and Japanese minor, in 2006, He went on tour in Japan to promote and market himself gaining an international following while working with various Japanese artists in Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto. Upon his return to the states, he immediately returned to the studio to work on more projects. Being fortunate enough to work with close friend/producer/engineer Neeraj Khajanchi, and recording artist Felice Lazae, they recorded more songs at the Studio@ The Palms and created his urban wear line called HappyWaffle©. Continuing to work on his music and major, JEI’s music is versatile using witty lyrics with melodic beats and catchy hooks. His music is naturally designed to appeal to everyone from the U.S. to Japan and beyond. “Keep ya ears open cause this is just the beginning!”-Jei
