The songs “Standing in a bottle” and ‘King Kong” received airplay. In late 2001 after winning the Stage Magazine Demo Competition the band used the prize to go and record more songs they had been writing. It was during this recording session that the band was offered an independent record deal to complete their debut album. The self titled album was released in April 2002 at the River club to a crowd of around 500 people. 5 songs were playlisted off the album on national radio stations. The album went to NO:1 on the SA Rock Digest and various songs have been used for Movies and TV programmes as well as radio commercials. In 2002 the band was offered the opportunity to have a music video done for the song “42”. The video went on to be aired on national television stations such as MK89 as well as international stations like MTV. The band has played almost all the major festivals in South Africa ( Oppikoppi, Woodstock, Up The Creek, Wingerdstock, Slash Fest to name a few ) and have played in all the major cities. Kelvin Declined is busy working on the long anticipated second album, this time an independent effort. The band has also just finished a collaboration with German rap artist Ees of the song ‘42’. Kelvin Declined have their eyes set on making an impact on the international market, through extensive marketing and networking of the band abroad.
