Bio
Self-taught, right-brained, left-handed visual artist and musician. Too "artistic" to qualify for college. Started playin' around with a wash-tub bass at age 16. Over the years it evolved into what I now call the "street-bass". Instead of a metal washtub, I use a 22" bass-drum; instead of a broomstick for a neck, I use a custom-made ergonomically correct neck with an ebony nut; instead of a clothesline for a string (or other tone-less strings) I use a custom-made Celtic harp bass-string------the resulting tone, punch, sustain and accuracy is wonderful. It has an ol'timey stand-up bass sound and is ideal for busking in the streets. I then took up the silver flute when I was 19 and also play various penny-whistles and ocarinas etc. Then in 1970, when I turned 20, I bought a 4-string, lap-style dulcimer. Over the years it evolved into a 20-string electric/acoustic beast I dubbed the "fire-harp". It sounds like a multitude of string instruments, i.e. the acoustic & electric guitar, the slide guitar, the violin and cello etc. I also assembled some small but loud hand percussion instruments into a kit that I call the "minute-drums". It sets up and breaks down in minutes (hence it's name) and is capable of covering a great variety of musical styles. My stuff is hard to catagorize as I love music from all over the world.
