Bio
David La'mont Singletary is back with his new CD of contemporary bosa nova music, currently all the rage on the West coast. David has chosen to make a one hundred eighty degree turn about with this Latin, Antonio Carlos Jobim like Brazilian smooth groove. Superior in melody and in the tradition of Sade, beginning with the first track 'Angel,' you're instantly transported to a time when Deon Warwick was singing 'Do You Know The Way To San Jose?' This piece reveals Singletary's love of Burt Bacharach and Hal David, yet still keeps a New-Age, or Now feel. The song 'Radio Freedom' enthralls with a bouncing beat sending sonic waves to the right brain. Title track 'Vibe," a Caribbean Island samba tune, embraces the sprit of dance with a hypnotic beat sending one to that long sought after place where music meets magic; it has a unique hook tempered with a great danceable beat and is certainly positioned for posterity. In the song 'Mid-Summer Gray Day,' a haunting melody and melancholy in the best possible way, one feels a sense of quiet reflection. 'Lupe,' the story-song of a young woman growing up in the barrio, then disappearing into an unfamiliar world, is a first rate dance-o-lot track with soul much like Jose Feliciano. And his classical piece entitled Father; composed and performed by David.
