[color=\\\"blue\\\"]Native-e-Music Award 5-time nominee and winner Andy Mason, (\\\"Mainstream Song of the Year\\\", for \\\"The Battle Raging\\\") is a First Nations singer/songwriter/actor/multi-instrumentalist, who released a CD entitled[/color] \\\"[color=\\\"violet\\\"]Long Walk 49\\\", [color=\\\"blue\\\"]recently on rotation on Aboriginal Voices Radio, [link=\\\"http://www.aboriginalvoices.com/\\\"] http://www.aboriginalvoices.com [/link]on the internet, and in several cities in Canada, and also [link=\\\"http://www.NativeRadio.com\\\"] www.NativeRadio.com [/link] He began singing at a very young age, teaching himself drums at about six, and later tried to learn songs on the piano. An older brother gave him a Rickenbacker guitar in 1979, and he began teaching himself in earnest. Soon he was playing on the piano and guitar, original, Stevie Wonder and Supertramp songs for his high school in rural southern Ontario. Eventually moving to Toronto, another older brother introduced him to the coffeehouse scene. Before long, he was acting in theater, (K.Y.T.E.S, and for A.N.D.P.V.A.) and playing clubs and coffeehouses. Soon after he helped form a CSNY tribute with John Law, (of the award-winning duo The Laws, [link=\\\"http://www.reverbnation.com/thelaws\\\"] (www.reverbnation.com/thelaws) [/link] the late Jim Cummins (1962-1994), and Johnny \\\"Lightning\\\" Ransom. Soon, the band began playing in the Ottawa area, albeit with different members (Cummins left in late \\\'87, was replaced first by Don Higgins, then Pierre Gravelle in 1989) and around Ontario and Quebec for several years. After the break-up of the band, he moved to B.C. He then produced what you hear here, from the full-length CD \\\"Long Walk 49\\\", with the help of David Roy Parsons, [link=\\\"http://www.myspace.com/davidroyparsons\\\"]([color=\\\"darkred\\\"]www.myspace.com/davidroyparsons) [/link] [color=\\\"blue\\\"] with whom he co-founded a small production company, called Raven Hymn Productions. He also sang and played on several of David Roys\\\' CDs, and Dr. Joey Only\\\'s first full-length CD, \\\"Radical Folk of the Great North\\\" [color=\\\"darkred\\\"] [link=\\\"http://www.myspace.com/xjoeyonlyx\\\"] (www.myspace.com/xjoeyonlyx) [/link] [color=\\\"blue\\\"] His music and voice has been called unique and heartfelt, versatile and uncommon...some of the same as well as other songs can be heard at [link=\\\"http://www.myspace.com/andywmason\\\"]www.myspace.com/andywmason [/link] In 2012, June, at the Solsitice Powwow in Vincent Massey Park, Ottawa, Andy entered, and subsequently won, the Canada\\\'s Aboriginal\\\'s Got Talent showcase, in his third entry at the showcase. He won a cash prize, and a feature article in the August issue of SAY Magazine. (http://www.saymag.com) [link=\\\"http://www.saymag.com\\\"] [/link] He still lives in the Ottawa area, continuing to make music and pursue his many interests, including film...he has signed on with Top Talent, with Lisa Meuser as his film agent...
