After leading THEM MUSHROOMS,one of the most successfull music groups in Kenya,since founding it in Dec 1972,i retired in May 2001. During my time with THEM MUSHROOMS,we recorded over fifteen albums most of them in our own recording studio in Na irobi.These included songs like,NDOGO NDOGO,AKUMU NYAR KISUMU,NYAMBURA,KAZI NI KAZI and the biggest to date,KENYA HAKU NA MATATA,just to name a few. There are over a dozen covers of HAKUNA MATATA.An Amharik version by the late SHIMELIS ARARSO of Ethiopia.Arabic by LIZA SHAKIRA of Sudan.Italian by FAUSTO PRED.German by FRANK ZANDER.F rench by BARBARA FROGER.The BELGIAN AIRFORCE BRASS BAND.ADAM SOLOMON of Canada.SUKBIR SINGH in Dubai.SAMBA SALAD in Holland.BO KATZMAN of Switzerland and the biggest of them all by BONEY M in their Kalimba de Luna album.Also what stands out above every thing else in the LION KING movie?The most,"WONDERFUL PHRASE", in Kiswahili,HAKUNA MATATA.
