Dread Ites Biography Page Ikimbah Gumbs was born on December 1st, 1978 on the beautiful small island of Anguilla, which is located in the Northern Leeward Islands of the British West Indies. From a very early age, Ikimbah developed a love for music, dancing to every song that he heard on the radio. At the age of 16, he participated in regular school singing competitions and became very popular as he developed styles similar to Capleton, Sizzla and Buju Banton and continuously won every competition. As his popularity grew, he was called up to perform on International shows as a guest artiste with artist such as Buju Banton, Luciano, Beres Hammond, Capleton and Kymani Marley. Upon his calling to these shows, he realized that it was time to venture seriously into singing as a career and sat down with some of his friends and family to decide on a singing name. After a couple thoughts and ideas, they all decided that Dread Ites would be the best name to work with as this portrayed his conscious roots rock reggae culture and style and his strong belief in Rastarianism.
