GREG’S GREATS 78’S - RECORDS GALORE!!!! VINTAGE 78rpm RECORDS FOR THE ENTHUSIASTIC COLLECTOR OR JUST FOR THOSE THAT LOVE GREAT MUSIC!! Hi there shellac fans.... For those who don't know me I'm Greg, director/owner of Greg's Greats Records based in Foxton near Cambridge. I deal in old records - NO CD's!! and have over 135,000 records in stock of which 95,000 or thereabouts spin at 78rpm and are made of Shellac and the rest is vinyl - mainly 7" 45's with some 12” singles and some LP's. Famous customers of Greg’s Greats include John Peel (RIP); The BBC in general (egs. props for “Eastenders”, “Monarch of the Glen”, and supplies to Local BBC Radio stations); Chas McDevitt; Marty Wilde; Larry Page, Film production teams (egs Stephen Fry’s “Bright Young Things”, “Below” etc) and more that I've forgotten. I also infrequently supply Rob Da Bank with a compilation of more unusual 78 sounds - and he and producer Louise occasionally pick out a “Greg’s Great 78” for him to play on his show on a Sunday night/Monday Morning between 12pm and 2am on BBC RADIO 1. There are so many records here that twice a year a Record Fair is held here at Foxton to display all the records at bargain prices for collectors to get their hands on. At the fairs all the 78 records that haven't yet been priced up are offered at a pound a piece and all 7" singles are offered at one pound fifty. In addition all the priced records are reduced by 25% for the fair and a fun time is usually had by all. The fair is free of charge to visitors who are also fed (BBQ in summer - Mince Pies and Sausage Rolls in Winter) and watered free of charge - The only caveat being you must let us know that you are coming so we can get the catering right!! The Fair's are always on the Second Sunday in August and the Second Sunday in December. Ask me to send you an invite... the next one is SUNDAY August 12th. Hope to see you there!!! John Peel was kind enough to mention it on his Sunday Radio 4 show “Home Truths “ after he had visited the fair . In addition I occasionally DJ with my BIG 10” 78’s and past shows have included supporting the Pasadena Roof Orchestra and fifties night Discos – entirely on 78s!! This Year I am doing a DJ spot with the 78’s at “Bestival” on the Isle of Wight, and I have a great selection lined up for all you flappers out there!!
