Sleep-E-J (Pronounced Sleepy J) is solo rap artist that hales from St. Louis, Mo. Best known for high energy on the stage presence, doing a concert in any venue that is willing to have him perform and for his appearing of Southern Smoke College Tour CD (as well as many more mixtapes and Album). Sleep-E-J got his first solo performance from a underground rock/club venue called Creepy Crawl in St. Louis, Mo. \"In the Beginning Creepy Crawl was the first and only club that would book me as a solo Act. It was so crazy to me cause it didn\'t cater to hip hop but I grinded through it and always brought a crowd and held my own to the rock bands there\" Sleep-E-J is working on a project called “Dream On” the release date is not set but expected to be sometime in Dec./Jan. He once was signed to a record label called Deka Records in Oct. of 2009. They released a debut album with him Called “It Was All A Dream” in Feb 2010 (It was once available on Itunes, Amazon, Rhapsody and Napster). When he was is in negotiations to record a sophomore album with Deka Records the label went under and disappeared. \"When I found out Deka was gone I was relieved yet scared because I was free to do my own thing again but also no more backing. It was crazy but I wont back down from the challenge.\" Sleep-E-J made many appearances on many artist songs and album but is most recognized from collabing with Frost Money. Currently V.M.P. and Sleep-EJ are looking into online radio stations and college radio to spin his music. Sleep-E-J is heavily influenced by west coast and southern rap. He started rapping when was 10. He recruited a friend school to form a group that didn’t work out. Then formed a group with his older cousin Called “Vicious Mexican Playas.” They recorded one freestyle mixtape (R&J Present the Connections) and began working on a CD but it fell apart when they couldn’t agree on the direction of the group. Since then Sleep-E-J has been a solo act. He joined up with some neighborhood friends and began doing several Mixtapes (“Ground Zero Freestyle” “VMP Da Take Over”) to develop a buzz. He also acted as a hype man for the neighborhood group that was Called ”HittSquad” that later fell apart due to creative differences. Sleep-E-J did continue playing the hype man for “D Lo” or now know as “DNell” (who was the front man of “HittSquad” ) In 2007 Sleep-E-J finally stepped out of the shadow that “DNell” was casting over him. Sleep-E-J Appeared on several other mixtapes in 2007 (VMP “Censor This” Lil X AKA Kane “Tha High Life” Guddah’s “My Block” Frost Money’s “Where’s My Money”). In 2008 Sleep-E-J took the stage as a solo act for the 1st time.. He recruited two friends to be his hype men (Frost Money and Guddah) to help him rock the stage. Later he cut the act down to only 1 hype man to cut down the confusion on the 3 of them being a group. Sleep-E-J performs Songs from his mixtapes and a Songs off his Studio Albums.
