Back in 1996 there was one song that shut down dancehalls all around Bermuda, the tune was "Man of War"-Elephant Child, one of the hottest local artist at the time. It was this same tune and watching the reaction of crowds which first got Yaun Lee on the mic. From there on he wrote songs, dubplates and performed his lyrics at any party, school dance or school bus ride that had a jam. It wasn't until 98 at the age of 14 that he would have his shot at having his music out there for the local scene. His shot came from the neighborhood soundsystem, Ghetto Quality. Ghetto Quality was one of Bermuda's first sounds to create original remixes, build riddims and circulate mixtapes. It was with Ghetto Quality at the Back Ah De Alley studio that he would learn to use proper song format, rewrite dubplates and build riddims. Its also where he was pushed to flow over not just dancehall instrumentals but hip hop, rock, classical, funk, house and jazz which later became apart of his own sound. His dubwork and songwriting would grow as he recorded dubs for numerous local sounds and worked songs for other rappers, deejays and r&b singers. It wasn’t until 2001, once he had finished high school that Heavy, a local producer approached him about his first album. This was a first for Yaun and Heavy as they built instrumentals, called on musicians and wrote songs for the album...In 2002, "L.O.S.E.R" dropped and was and still is Bermuda's first hardcore album followed by the First Assault tour of Canada. Yaun Lee then took a few years to strictly produce and write for other upcoming artist. 2005 was his return to the mic with the underground track Crown, the summer's Rudebwoy Hustle, a remix with Daddy Yella and The Advocate Mixtape.
