Paul Andreas (real name Paul Smith) was born and raised in Southminster, Essex. He was educated at the local infant and junior school and then attended St Peter’s High School, where he took Gcse’s including Music and Drama. He then attended The Plume School and achieved an AVCE in Performing Arts and an AS level in Music and Drama. It was evident from his first report as an infant school child, that he was destined to be a singer. The teacher stated, ‘while all the other children are working, Paul just sits on the mat and sings.’ And this comment basically sums up his school years. While all the other kids were out playing football, he was enrolling in the choir, or taking dance classes, or getting his friends together and rehearsing for the school assemblies. He was in every play going at school including, ‘Fame’, ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’ and ‘The Jungle Book’ to name a few. Whilst at school he joined a local amateur group called ‘L.A.D.S’ and it was here he really began to get noticed in the local community, starring in ‘Sweeney Todd the Musical’ in which he received a nomination at the Essex Theatre Guild Awards and more recently in ‘Salad Days’ in which he took on his first lead role as ‘Timothy’ with recognition in the process. On leaving education, Paul started his first full time job but also landed an audition for a local boy band, which he later became part of, that went by the name of ‘F4CUS’. This is where Paul really began to shine and finally had enough confidence in himself and his ability that he was able to express his emotions through his singing. He co wrote a song for the band which they later recorded and his song writing talents truly began to really flourish, with Paul writing and recording original material for himself at the same time as the band. While in the band Paul experienced a lot of success in a short space of time playing gigs in venues including ‘The Circus Tavern’ and also being featured on ITV 2’s ‘The XTRA Factor’. But where as for a lot of bands this would have been the beginning of their career, this in fact was the end, as an unnecessary strain was placed on the band, and due to miss-management and a few mistakes, the band separated to go there on separate ways. A band break up, a relationship break up, and a major car crash, forced Paul to think about a lot of things and one of them was his career. He said of this time, ‘ Just when you thought things couldn’t get worse, they did. I was on the verge of a breakdown at the age of 20. Instead of going under like some people do, I decided to channel all of my emotions into my writing of songs, so in the end I could show people that if I can get through it,so could they!’. And that is exactly what he did, with the songs on this page being a representation of that. Currently he is waiting to go into the recording studios, is breaking into modeling and is considering other options. Another personal thing he is doing is getting a new tattoo, stating what he wants his fans to do, summed up in a simple slogan…. ‘Be Bold, Be Brave, Be you’. The future is bright for the rising star, who goes by the name of Paul Andreas. Watch this space . . .
