Bio
Hip Hop is a tough game to be in these days. Countless fakes have taken their toll, and the soul of the culture is constantly under attack from corporate entities and major labels. With those being the most prevalent in a long list of obstacles restricting any new album that releases into the mainstream, up and coming artists of substance have a more difficult time than ever getting their voices heard. So begins the story of Swagger Jones. Since he was a child, growing up in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, Swagger has analyzed the grip around the neck of society, perpetrated by a culture of hypocrisy, which has chocked the very voice of reason that has forever rested behind good old fashion logic and common sense. For the greater part of his life, he has been on an unofficial quest to amplify this voice, and force those who have not yet felt its stern, condescending words plow through the fertile soil of the mind, planting each in amongst the weeds and rocks, to blossom and flourish, pushing through like follicles of hair, creating a new magnificent and bountiful garden, where nothing is implicitly evil, and no fruit is forbidden. He emerged on the hip-hop scene with his critically acclaimed debut album, The Solution, this past July. His sophomore album, Project Mayhem, ups the ante even further as he tries to level the playing field and show urban culture in the Pacific Northwest can still produce the goods. Representing to the fullest, Swagger stays true to his roots with real, honest stories told through strong lyrics, coupled with catchy, melodic hooks, leading the charge with blazing production representing some of the top names from the Left Coast; Swagger puts it all together with a unique style that has started fire through the game with an intensity equal to that which he has clearly brought so many times to the 100-Proof Hip-Hop studios. He has dazzled crowds across North America, doing shows with such hip-hop heavyweights as Too Short, Obie Trice, and K-os, as well as many of the underground favorites including Afu-Rah, and Planet Asia, and fellow Canadians, Classified, Maestro Fresh-Wes, and the Raskalz to name a few. Swagger was also featured during intermission at the MMA showcase, the “Rage In The Cage”, in Phoenix, AZ, which was shown worldwide on pay-per-view. “The Solution” to your musical dehydration has finally emerged... The bell has rung, round two is underway!
