Philadelphia: home of famous Cheese Steaks, Love Park, the Constitution, the 76ers, - and some of the most ambitious hustlers on the East Coast. In a city where there is something for everyone, and everyone is working to get something, hip-hop artist 2ew Gunn Ciz embodies the Philly ambition. Walk down one street and there are young girls selling homemade earrings. Ride the subway and young men are selling fragrance oils. Stand outside any given public transportation place and hear the men offering cab rides out of their own cars, no meters. You will find Ciz amidst all of this, donning a pair of headphones, and writing verses in his head- persistent and working towards his time to shine. At an early age Ciz recognized the face of struggle. Born and bred in the tough streets of North Philadelphia, Ciz grew up rapping on the street corners right after school. Yet, Ciz is not just another out of the hood storybook character. What sets Ciz apart from other artists are his vast life experiences. He speaks about what he knows, but what doesnt he know? College-educated, Ciz went on to join the Navy. In a later move, he went back to his block and lived the life of a hustler. Meanwhile, in his head, the rhymes were still brewing. Ciz universal experiences have given him the ability to connect with many different types of people - adding to his mass appeal. He has lived to see murders, gotten up to commute to a white-collar job, and been in combat protecting the citizens of the United States. A lot on the plate of a 25-year old. But his honesty within his life has been transferred into his music. And if there is anything that Ciz promises to provide hip-hop today, it is honesty. In an industry where artifice is the norm, Ciz goes against the grain, as a person with a lot to say, and validity to back it up, what Ciz refers to as real rap. Ciz influences are classic figures in the world of Black music, including Rakim, Notorious B.I.G., KRS-1, Schooly-D, The Man They Call Lux, Cool C, Steady B, Doctor Shock, Supreem, Langston Hughes, John Coltrane, Doctor Dre, and Snoop Dogg. But he has no ambition to mimic their success. He would rather focus on making his own. He has rocked the stage at several well-known Philadelphia spots such as Pontiac Grille, The Five Spot, Fluid, and Deco, and is definitely making his mark on the Philadelphia music scene. Ciz recently rocked the Remote Lounge and Temple in NY, NY. He was the May 2K6 winner of Music Notes Magazine's Monthly Showcase. He travels frequently (sometimes 3 times a week) to New York City for shows via train, chinabus, or any other way possible and performed over 40 shows in the Big Apple from April to December. His hit song "Here We Go Again" has been featured on Hate Money Radio on 1.FM Jamz Internet radio, which has one of the largest listening audiences on internet radio as apart of the regular rotation. In December of 06 he dropped his first mixtape "Pay 2ew Play" hosted by DJ Bedtyme 357. He was inducted into the Project Co-Sign family which includes such notable up and coming artists such as Esso, Nina B, Big Lou, Gage (DTF) and Torae. He has recently ventured into the business side of things under the watchful eye of some of the industry's hardest working executives and A&R's scouting talent from Philadelphia's large pool of talented artists for showcases and various other opportunities. Ciz works dilligently to bring the sound of Philly to headphones nationwide.
