Elizabeth "Nikoma" Mendez Choreographer, Dancer, Singer, Writer It was the 8th day of October a regular morning at Booth Memorial Hopsital of Flushing, Queens NY. A young hardworking man and his beautiful young wife gave birth to their first child a 8lb 18oz baby girl. From that day on their hearts were filled with joy and excitement because they knew that their baby girl would grow into a talented, strong hearted, succesful woman. At the age of 3 Nikoma began studying dance at Dena's School of The Arts. From those days into her early childhood Nikoma furthered her career by pursuing the choreography stand point of dance. While choreographing and studying a combination of techniques such as Modern, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Ballet, Tap, African, and Lyrical there came a point where she realized she was blessed with yet another talent. Her voice.. At the age of 9 Nikoma's mother carefully watched and studied her mock her favorite R&B and Gospel singers, T.V shows, singing in the church choir, act in stage plays, to dancing in various talent shows and dance recitals. It was then when her parents decided she needed a vocal trainer and a person to lead her in the right direction. At the age of 15 Nikoma continued to study the songs of Patti Labelle, Gladys Knight, Angie Stone, Mariah Carey, Monica, Aaliyah and Mary J. Blige and would put on shows at family gatherings and bus trips. That was the turning point of it all. She learned both reading and writing music with some of the best vocal and music trainers expreience has to offer. Dennis Henson which studied with her at The Nola Studios, and Mrs. Lerose Saxxon which studied with her at the well known Harlem School Of The Arts.And now working under Kayel the voice trainer of some of the most gifted vocalist in the world, she has the voice and the talent to get the job done. Singer, dancer, actress, there are many words to identify this young lady. With her personality, kindness, strive, self perderverance, patience, and motivation she gives on or off the stage there's no stopping her. When it's time to get down to the nitty-gritty her vocals and dancing ability come to the light. You can say she is a busy body. She has a planned schedule from month to month. With her always keeping God first, her hard work, dashing good looks, consummate professionalism, and multi-media marketability, Elizabeth "Nikoma" Mendez will undoubtebly be one of the worlds rising stars.
