Steph Hernandes – BBC Radio Derby – African Carribean Experience Just some of the hype Prone received from the UK’s two leading Hip Hop magazine’s ,Londons leading underground radio station and the BBC !!! with those kind of comments surely the music does the talking but as Prone has had over twenty four years in the game we must give you a little low-down… Since Prone’s humble beginnings creating cassette tape break loops back in 1983, this first generation UK B.Boy DJ has witnessed many transformations and trends over the years in the Hip Hop scene. B.Boy, Graff Artist, DJ and Producer Prone has always remained true to the game contributing to a scene which on the surface has sometimes been commercially misrepresented and exploited in recent years. Those that frequent key underground Hip Hop events in the UK will be very familiar with the name PRONE… EVERYBODY KNOWS PRONE!!! Every year Prone has played his residency at the legendary DEDBEAT WEEKENDER (which he initially co-organised) and the legendary annual B.Boy / B.Girl competition BATTLE JAM. PRONE employs traditional method’s to create NEW music and hasn’t fallen foul of soft drum machines and silky synth’s that sanitise some of today’s RnB fused Hip Hop. As an active club and radio DJ, Prone is very much in touch with what is happening now in the underground Hip Hop scene to which his contributions over the years have been instrumental. In 1998 PRONE was penned as the man who discovered KILLA KELA (SONY / BMG), a then punter who later showcased at his legendary club night ‘The Breaks’ and now tours the world. In PRONE’S DJ Career he has been lucky enough to work with the likes of JURASSIC 5, SOULS OF MISCHIEF,TY, BIZ MARKIE, DOUGIE FRESH, PHARSYDE, ROOTS MANUVA, SUGARHILL GANG, JERU, BRAND NUBIAN, EDAN, BIG DADDY KANE, DJ CRAZE, ROY AYERS, GWEN McCRAE, THE RASCALZ, Q-BERT, AMP FIDDLER, TOM BROWN, and many many more.!!!. PRONE present’s his own weekly radio show "SCRATCH N SNIFF" on www.globalfunkradio.com broadcasting every Thursday 8 -10pm (GMT). Recently PRONE also presented ‘PRONE’S B.BOY DOCUMENT’ on BOUNCE 101.4FM which has also been a huge success. In 2003 PRONE was asked to compile an old school breaks compilation for SECOND TO NONE records titled ‘PRONE BREAKS VOLUME 1’, this successful record sold out and was a consistent seller in shops worldwide providing a useful tool for Turtablist’s & Breaks DJ’S. PRONE has been producing music for many years now but until recently has kept it to himself as a very personal passion. As a producer and artist PRONE is working with an array vocalist’s and Emcee’s from the around the world.. Prone’s Transatlantic project features U.S emcees ‘MR RATH’ of ‘SUBKREW’ and ‘PARADOXX’ (a.k.a SKILLZ FERGUSON) who has previously worked with none other than ‘EDAN’. PARADOXX and MR RATH were recently featured on “Raw Flaw MC’s-Steppin Up” LP on Rough Acoustic Records. PRONE’s recent varied demo CD has been tried & tested in the clubs, radio (ITCH FM, JUICE UK, BOUNCE FM, BBC Radio Derby, GFR, TRUE RADIO 86.5 California) and magazines (HIP HOP CONNECTION, UNDERCOVER) so far the results have been really really phenomenal. At present PRONE has attracted some promising interest from a handful record labels.. most of which said they love Prone’s music and they want to hear more.. SO HERE IS MORE!!!! the radio stations are all ready playing it and day by day Prones fanbase is increasing through listeners & the infamous myspace (check www.myspace.com/djprone and see what people are saying) The BBC are now officially using Prone’s track ‘Secrets of the Crates’ as a theme tune for the A.C.E programme on Radio Derby!!!! Not bad for an unsigned artist. 2007 sees new projects with the likes of ‘JONNY VIRGO’ who is currently having a lot of success with his hit ‘DEVILS BREW’. ‘JONNY VIRGO’ currently features on Prone’s track ‘I Rock Fresh’ taking things back to the very basics in a primitive but tongue in cheek flavour,. Prone recently collaborated ‘PONI’ who has had recent successful collaborations with D12 & WU TANG) , and singer / femcee ‘SARA JAY’ (who features on the latest STEREO MC’S album).
