Raw, intense, and bangin' is how twenty-something year-old Brandy Alexander, aka "RUIN" wants to be recognized for spittin' on the mic. RUIN is her self-proclaimed title and it's what she professes to do to her competition. Known as a woman of few words but many lyrics, the Richmond, Virginia native already knows what it's like to be a female in the rap game. She started freestylin‘ in fifth grade with a few classmates and was asked by her teacher to write rap lyrics for the D.A.R.E. program. Before long, Ruin started hanging out with an uncle who deejay parties and he helped her hone her skills as an entertainer. Tamara Pettigrew -BET Media Relations “Stop Tryin” -This song from RUIN is unbelievable...definitely something that hasn’t been done before and its hot!.......Ruin I just want the baddest one out there! Jack of Spades-103 JAMZ in VA -Once you play this song watch how your phone lines light up.......I definitely co-sign this record and spin it every time I get a chance. DJ Custom-102.9 VA -When I first heard the song I knew it would kill’em.........she is definitely ready for war and I’m proud to be featured on the song!! Big Sty-Richmond, VA's Problem Child “Queen of the South” From talent shows, guest appearances to title and national recognition… From Richmond, VA, RUIN is recognized as the “Queen of the South.” With a versatile style that demands recognition on and off the mic, her recently released single “Stop Tryin” off the soon to-be-released album, “Ready for War” (Blaq Psyircle Productions), RUIN answers the industry wide question, “Yes, I’m Gay”. Claiming her first title October 2003 as the Urban Independent Music Awards (UIMA), “Female Rapper of the Year,” she continued to strive and make RUIN an industry known name on the East Coast with her continued success at the UIMA’s in 2004 taking home “Female Rapper of the Year & Video of the Year “. RUIN recently took home this past October for the third year in a row. With opening up for Trina (Oct. 05), taking home the UIMA’s 2005 “Female Rapper of the Year Award, beating out other female rappers from all over the US all three years, and a host of engagements from NY to the ATL, RUIN is taking no prisoners. Did we fail to mention her Billboard Reign from May to current beating out Usher and other industry greats? If you don’t believe us check out the article in November’s (Eastern Region) Issue of the “Source“ Magazine page 61. We look forward to see what the “Queen” brings in 2006……….
