SWOLE Originally from: Windsor, N.C. Musical Type: Hip Hop, Spoken Word, Acoustic Soul Education: Shaw University, Raleigh, N.C. Influences: Outkast, Slick Rick, Kurtis Blow, Otis Redding, James Brown, etc. Goals: To let the world know that a real MC can still stick to the script and keep it Hip Hop! By telling the story he has to Tell, everyone will listen. SWOLE Swole is a very talented and diverse artist. Aside from being an accomplished rapper, guitar player; he is a writer, and a producer. Swole represents the streets and even when coupled with his acoustic guitar, his deep baritone always demands the listener’s attention. Swole was influenced by music at a young age. He was twelve years old when he heard Outkast’s Playas Ball. That song inspired him to dig deep, but not too deep to find out that he also had the talent of attracting an audience with his freestyles, and his writing capabilities. He quickly became a familiar face and a target of every up and coming rapper. Swole accepted all challenges, not only the challenge to win, but to set his mark and to be known as a top MC. He wrote rhymes daily, and when ever he got an idea in his head, he wrote it in his rhymes. By meeting different people, he started to go to house studios to lay vocals on tracks, which was the beginning of his first album. His first album didn’t take long. In six months “Elevation” was complete. The album was more of a learning experience for promotions, studio equipment, publishing, copyrights, etc. The public enjoyed the album. Swole attended college at Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C. While in college, he continued trying to make something happen with his music, but he had come to a conclusion that music wasn’t paying any bills at this point in life. Not only was he going through trouble at this time, but his mother was back at home struggling trying to make ends meet. So Swole started making fast money to help the family, eventually he was incarcerated. He was sentenced to three years in prison. He was taught to play the guitar in a prison music program by a fellow inmate known as Brett Kimberlin. Kimberlin was later released and formed a band called “EPOXY”. By learning the guitar, Swole earned himself a spot in the prison band as a guitar player. He performed on numerous occasions. Simply put, Swole is in a class of his own. Swole has been through a lot of pain and suffering in his life. He wants the people, and his audience to feel his pain through his music. He wants the younger generation to know that the streets and life are real; and that there are more important things in life than money, ice, cars, etc. Feel his pain.
