Da General, born in DURHAM, NC in 1990, made his first rap when he was 5 years old. In 1996, he and his mother moved to Hillsborough, NC, where he learned how to make beats and dance. At that time, snap music was just coming into play in Atlanta. Da General began mixing Chicago-styled flow with Durham-made beats and the hits began to pour out. In 2004, Da General moved to Durham, NC, just 20 miles south of hillsborough. Hillsborough introduced him to the distinct sound of Durham rap. When his dad brought him into an in-house studio, Da General’s future as a great hip-hop musician was decided. Da General’s unique take on dance and snap music has garnered much respect from peers and fans. When asked about his origins, he would say, “GLENDALE HEIGHTZ,” representing all the places he found influence. He started working with a Durham-based management team doing shows across the country. From skating rinks, sweet 16s and exclusive private parties, Da General has played to all crowds. In order to stay connected with his diverse fan-base that spans the country, Da General set up a MySpace page, www.myspace.com/ballerz187 Since the creation of his page in July 2006, Soulja Boy has broken MySpace history for an independent artist.
