Gabàna is not just some strange name. Actually this is a very special emotion interwoven with the different characters which are behind it. The date is 2000-02-06: Nixon, Walrus and Viktor begin rehearsing, each of them drawn by different reasons. At the end of 2006 Manolov an "ANGEL" guitarist joined to become a part of the already spectacular band. Despite their differences the urge for composing music of their own is one of the things that unite them so the first songs came soon (2002: Bordiur, Euthanasia, Exhaustion, Odd). The harsh, balanced and melodic voice of Viktor as well as his sense of lyrics combined with the tender lyrically-harsh and irregular rhythms plus the aristocratic, cold and aggressive tone of Walrus are the mixture that creates the specific sound and emotion of Gabàna. The majority of rock fans often struggle to understand this music (a pile of sounds and careless clashing???); a majority of fans accustomed to listening clichés. Fighting the hard start and criticism Gabàna stood its beliefs and is onstage more than 7 years. There is no other band in Plovdiv that overcame time, personal problems, lack of money for so long, thanks to their overwhelming inspiration. At the start of 2007 the trio has over 300 gigs behind its back. Significant part of them in Plovdiv, in the music clubs: PETNOTO, NAYLON, NON STOP, SWING, SEVEN HILLS, LZ, SAX, SILVER, JETHRO, PIANOTO, C4. The clubs in Sofia the band has rocked are: O'SHIPKA, MASKATA, 3 USHI, OKOTO, BACKSTAGE, SWINGIN' HALL. Gabàna is significant part of the local PLOVDIV ROCK FEST (03, 04, 05). They played other fests like:TANGRA MEGA LIVE 2 '06 SEATTLE NIGHT 6 '06, BERKSTOCK '05, BRUMFEST '01. First recordings the trio made in 2001. Official discography consists of 2 singles: LICKETY-SPLIT (produced by Gabàna, published by Harbor Island Records; the track is part of the METAL X-MAS '03 compilation and is on third place alongside the best heavy-rock bands in Bulgaria). A FUCKEND (produced and published by Gabàna this is the first self-released project of the band. The track premiered in April 06). Gabana released its debut album "DO NOT COVER" on the 27.10.06. It consists of 13 tracks, including a remastered version of "A fuckend" and a song with bulgarian folklore elements. As a bonus to the album, the band included a two-discs unplugged concert, recorded on the 26.08.06 at Plovdiv, Bulgaria. With its diversity of music and original design, "DO NOT COVER" turned to be a very stylish product. As a result, MM - the biggest music chanel in Bulgaria nominated "DO NOT COVER" for the best rock/alternative album for the year 2006.
