www.firouzeh.co.uk www.myspace.com/firouzehtunes From a very early age Firouzeh loved performing, singing, dancing, it didn’t matter where or when she just loved to play the entertainer. Firouzeh recalls “I remember being five years old and singing along to Matt Monroe records so loud that the neighbours could hear!” (She laughs!) At the age of seven Firouzeh was given her first musical instrument....the cornet. Firouzeh learnt how to play the cornet extremely quickly and joined the Blackley Band and the North Manchester Brass Band, where she was involved in many organized band competitions both locally and nationally, and her joy of playing the cornet eventually led onto playing the trumpet. Firouzeh was brilliant for her age and a very quick learner, at the age of just nine years old she played a trumpet solo in concert at the Royal Northern College of Music. Firouzeh played trumpet in many different bands and every year she teamed up with Chetham’s School of Music Concert Band and The Royal Northern College of Music’s concert band to perform at the former Freetrade Hall and the now Bridgewater Hall in Manchester for the last night of the proms event. Firouzeh says “I remember it used to be so exciting, going and playing at what seemed to me to be massive professional places!” But she loved it and rapidly became addicted to performing live. From the trumpet, Firouzeh went on to play other instruments. She remembers “I became totally obsessed” (she laughs). “I wanted to learn how to play everything...I was so eager!” She also set up a music club at her school where she would teach her fellow classmates how to play an instrument. Along with becoming a professional trumpet player, she also blossomed in other areas, including becoming professional violinist; this in turn led to Firouzeh playing in local orchestras in addition to the brass bands she had accomplished so much alongside. Firouzeh always had the ambition to be a professional singer, but she wanted the dream more than anything after going to her first ever concert at the former Nynex Arena now known as the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester. The performer was her idol Janet Jackson on her Velvet Rope Tour. “She was amazing...and still is...her tunes are brilliant, her dance moves are wicked...she is an all round entertainer.” Firouzeh can’t get enough of concerts and gigs now “The only way you develop as a better performer is to go and watch how other entertainers perform.” Firouzeh is now studying BA (Hons) Music at The University of Salford majoring in composition and performance. She is also working with musicians and writing songs. News on performances will be up on this site later this year so keep checking back for dates. Firouzeh is well on her way to becoming a big star, her voice, talent, enthusiasm, charisma and looks are all amazing and perfect to take her where she wants to go. One day you will never believe you had lived in a world where you had never heard of the mystical girl named “Firouzeh”! Written by Paul Megson.
