I remember watching and listening to my Dad play his Bass Guitar and a set on his Sound System, playing Lovers Rock Reggae & Roots Rock Reggae with the occasional National Chart Topper. Several years later I decided that it was time to take part in this phenomenum and acquired my first Keyboard. I managed to play a few melodies of my own, but did not advance until I started Secondary School. At this stage I did not know exactly what I was going to do with my talent, until I realised that anybody can achieve anything they want as long as they want it enough! and are prepared to put the effort in. It was then I decided that I wanted to become one of many successful Musicians of the World! I started producing in 1987 and I became part of a double act called 'Sec Remedy' which came from a TV commercial for cough medicine. Over time I have gained many new skills and have performed at many different venues. In November 1991 my Music partner at the time Roy Reid, Mr Bellamy and myself were among those appearing at The Birmingham Town Hall for the event organised by the charity Population Concern, of which Mr Bellamy is president. There I met TV actress Pamla Salem who at the time played a wine bar manageress in the BBC soap opera 'East Enders'. Early 1993 we; Sec Remedy, were given the oportunity to go to Italy and perform our tracks and then going back on the 13th September to the 20th; of the same year, to take part in a national and international music festival. Although I aspire from working with others I could not express myself fully at that time in what I did and our musical ideas and goals where of some difference. May 1994 saw the separation of the group but at the same time we cannot ignore how productive we can be working alongside each other. I have also performed at The American Airforce digs in Upper Hayford Oxford and to an audience of over 5,000 at Picco Rosso night spot in Reggio Emelia (Italy). In addition I have performed more close to home, The Birmingham Town Hall, Palm Springs (formally Tobascos night spot Aston Birmingham), the Midlands Arts Centre (Edgebaston Birmingham) Pagoda Park Night Club and Hard Rock Cafe (Five Ways Broad St Birmingham). Having produced the majority of my tracks myself, I get an outstanding sense of achievement when performing and unbelievable vibes. Weather that be live or as a recorded performance in a studio or lab. It was time to truly do it alone and be successful. I have applied for many grants in the past and have been awarded up to approximately GBP 1,200 in total. I used this funding to buy equipment, which meant low studio costs. I had the ability to create my tracks at home before hand and then went on to record my voice at the Studio. The only remaining problem was, engineers. They didn't seem to be as good as I first envisaged and with only knowing a little about the equipment in the Studio myself, it left me with minimal control over my own music. So it was time to get more kowledge and better equipment. I had used up all my grant options and in 1997 I became the proud farther of Drai Douglas. A fantastic musician in his own right (participating on four rbai (ww.rbailabs.co.uk) tracks to date including the vocals for www.Quadrosonic.co.uk and a Water Mill School album). It has now been 19 years since I decided to reach such a substantial goal in the Music industry. Therefore I believe it is time to learn as much as possible to eliminate all my difficulties. To simply be a success in what I love and know I'm good at. This would enable me to have a career path that will provide financial security for my son, my partner and her four children and my extended family & friends. Incidently I'd like to think that the knowledge I have and will gain in the future can be passed on to others; should they be in pursuit of a similar career. Therefore to achieve; what is without a doubt, my main aspiration in life. Raymond (rai) Douglas. Esq[link="www.rbailabs.co.uk"]
