Ruthie King R&B Singer/Songwriter Ruth King was raised in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, aka Minnesnowta; home of the snow. She did live in Georgia for a couple years then moved back to the Sota. (Talk about climate difference). She comes from a family of four kids and Ruthie was the first girl of the family; not just intermediate. Her whole family is musically inclined. Dad plays guitar (acoustic & electric) and writes music, mother plays cello, and oldest brother plays bass real well. Then the next older brother plays drums and now her little sister is taking after big sister doing her singing thing. Then there’s Ruthie: Plays a little piano, sings R&B, and writes her own music. Not to mention the outside family, so it’s in the genes and comes natural for her. She grew up listening and singing to Mary J. Blidge and Mariah Carey, who are her favorite singers, and listening to nothing but R&B so that’s what influenced her and where she learned how to sing. People have told her that her sound and style is like Keyshia Cole, Mya and Ashanti. The original stage name for Ruth was LaRue, which she recorded her first album with, but now it’s officially Ruthie King. She figured it was more mature and it explains who she really is. There is only one “Ruthie King.” Ruth is now in the process of recording her second CD. She’s actually made more than just one, but the very first album was like a practice CD if you know what I mean. The CD she made last year, “To Be,” did receive many good comebacks and had great slow songs on it, which is good considering she did work hard on it and it was her first real album since it was mastered. With this second CD, she’s trying a little different approach by having more upbeat songs on it and she’s a little sassy, but it will still have hot slow jams on it because that’s what she does best. Ruth is more like a recording artist than an entertainer. She’s in the studio a lot but doesn’t have much performing experience. But every time some someone will ask her “sing,” she will sing to you with no hesitation whether you’re paying her or not! Her plan is to start booking at places and gaining her performing experience. Other people that she is currently working with are Righteous and Fire with JusFire Entertainment. Righteous is a recording artist who is featured on some of her songs and she’s on his as well, and Fire is her producer, both with great talent. Ruthie has never had singing lessons, although it’s never too late to maybe start now. She still sounds great, though. She learned how to sing on her own always listening to the radio and singing ever since she was real young. She would sit up in her room all day and go over the octaves and parts that she could not quite make until she had it. That’s how determine she was. I guess that’s what helped her to be so good right now. Ruthie did take a Media Technology course in 2003, performed infront of a maximum of 300 people a couple of times. Just at her high school and grandfather’s funeral. She’s trying to perform in front of thousands of people at concerts and going on tour, so that’s her goal in the meantime. Since her last CD, Ruth has been through a lot, as well as her family, and also has a lot going on. She does have a baby on the way, and like I said before she did moved back to her home state, but that will not stop her from doing what she wants and needs to do. Although, she did take a small break from her music, Ruthie realized that was why she was going crazy in the meantime and that she was made to do this! Ruth inspires a lot of people with her talent and has an ability to open others minds and hearts by her music. She has goals to give her life to this world and this profession. Music is her life and she will continue to make music and history for as long as she lives. With her child on the way, it’s only more motivation for her so watch out.
