Bio

At the age of 14 Marc began to lose himself in the exploration of music. Interfacing with an electronic keyboard, Marc started writing and recording songs using a double cassette "boom box" that had a mixing mic input that allowed the layering of audio by playing along with previously recorded material on one tape while recording to another. The fidelity was awful but Marc began to teach himself the art of recording and arranging music. Later, he bought a 4-track cassette recorder which greatly improved flexibility and audio fidelity. Around the age of 15 Marc started playing keyboards in high school garage bands at parties and talent shows. Often, band mates would leave their instruments behind after rehearsal and Marc would experiment with guitar, bass, and drums and recorded with them. He also began to study music formally in high school, taking piano, music theory, percussion, and chorus. During Marc's senior year he released a self produced cassette of his songs called The Exit and put it on consignment in the local stores. In his typical modesty and highly critical tone Marc jokes "needless to say, the Exit is not currently available...the only song that I deemed listenable and make available on the Teen Age CD from The Exit is 'Designated Dead'...it's interesting how your ear can change and develop...I've become such a perfectionist". Having little or no interest in college, Marc stayed home with his mom in Sarasota, FL after high school graduation. This began a period of serious piano study with Marc playing scales, arpeggios, and other exercises for hours each day. It was around this time that Marc began his obsession with compositional form and arrangement which continues to this day. At the age of 19 Marc began performing solo and his first paying solo gig was playing piano in a local restaurant. A bit later he questioned the wisdom of ignoring college and applied to the Berklee College of Music. Marc was accepted to Berklee but then eventually couldn't rationalize the high tuition and so continued to study and record on his own and stay in Sarasota, FL with his family. Finally, Marc went through the 4 semester music theory program and took some music history courses at MCC where he was instructed by Dr. Charles Turon, Rex Willis, and Dr. Michael Stone. Years later, out of disillusionment with the arts in general and depression, Marc began to devour books on science and physics resulting in his application to UCF as a physics major. Marc was accepted and spent the next five years taking math, chemistry, physics, biology, anthropology, education, astronomy and computer engineering courses before eventually graduating from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelors of Science in Liberal Studies. Throughout all of these various periods, Marc always composed and produced recordings in his home studio. He also performed wherever and whenever he could and even went on tour in 2002 to support his All Is Fair CD. Today, Marc makes a living by giving music lessons, selling CDs, performing, doing studio work, and academic tutoring. Marc always has one ear on the next record and as he often says, "I enjoy being in the moment and hope you can come out and see me sometime".
