[b][b][color="blue"]Name: Tyka Nelson I grew up in Minneapols and as a child I often sang and danced around the house, or in local talent shows. I listened to my mother's music; Nat King Cole. My father's, Count Basie and my brother's James Brown. But nothing touched me the way Mahalia Jackson's Gospel Music did. Following in my mother's footsteps, I sang professionally for a time, but after years of singing other types of music, I now sing, only for the JOY filled experience, of singing about Jesus. Most of my lyrics tell the story of what happens when a person trys to serve two masters. In a rythmning fashion, the outcome is always the same. Without God you can do nothing, but with him ALL things are possible. Before I sing...I pray...I open my mouth, and the sound you hear, is what comes out. I have always tried to be original, so if I sound like anyone else, that is not my intent. However to sound like someone, whom I love and owe so very much to, would be an honor.
