The story of DBM-Y25 goes like this... There was an argumentin the band, DoucheBag Machete. There had been many of these arguments at this time. One could blame it on the other. Either way; both were unwilling to fully "take charge". Anyhoo... There were five members in this "DoucheBag Machete". There had been another previous member who had been fired (even though to be properly fired, you need to have been paid first...which none of us had at that time). The main reason this earlier member is important to this story is that the drummer had "fired" him. Later in the "story" of DoucheBag Machete; the drummer also "fired" the bass player and guitar player (who the previous member had been replaced by). The drummer was accused of "taking over the band" by the keyboard player, who was also his roommate. The drummer also dated the bass player, worked with the guitar player (plus had also brought the previous guitar player into the band),AND went to school with the singer. However, the drummer had also wrote 90% of all the music plus a good part of the lyrics. On a different note, the singer DID come up with the name of the band, based on a conversation he had with a co-worker at the time. He was also resonsible for alot of the interest in the band, based on his vocal style and stage antics. He once brought a vat full of "bloody" baby doll heads and "drank" them. DoucheBag Machete, at that time, were considered an "opening band" and were normally followed by some easy listening or pre-emo band. Back to the phase, and the events that led up to "DBM-Y25". The keyboard player had brought up the concept to the drummer of starting a band and playing a show. There was a so-called "MetalFest" happenning in three weeks. The drummer had thought of and asked the singer if he was interested in playing this "MetalFest". He said, "Sure". (there was some controversy about this. The keyboard player stated that he "thought" of asking the singer to BE the singer. However, this was never stated to the drummer, yet the drummer "magically" thought of this at the same time AND had acted upon it). The drummer than asked the bass player if she was interested in playing bass, whom he had met online (she likes that). She said, "Yes." They decided to go on without a guitar player and played their first show at this "MetalFest". It sucked. A change had to be made, even though the singer put on an entertaining show by builing upto, and stage-diving into a crowd of nobody. Not a one! They got the first guitar player, learned some new songs, and played out a few times. A good note about this time is when the bass player (who normally didn't write anything), contributed their best song, "God of Blunder" (which, lyrically, was also a nod to The Dead Milkmen). AFter awhile, the guitar player got an everyone's nerves. Everyone liked him, but he was just too "intense" all the time. He had no volume knob. While this was admired to a certain degree, it also got to be "too much". After he was "fired", the man known as "Super-Paul" was "hired" and they played some more shows (always at an "underground" venue known as the OHC). One of the biggest shocks was on Super-Paul's first show, he chose to go shirtless...and had shaved his hairy chest area into an upside down cross. DoucheBag Machete were speechless...but it was the coolest. It was at this time that DoucheBag Machete was the talk of the town. They were at the top of their game. For the area, they had extravagent masked shows that entertained all. However, the time was to be short-lived. Two months or so... Tensions rose between the keyboard player and drummer, Maybe it was due to living together and being in a band together (which they had two seperate tastes in music and were two completely different personalities)...maybe it was outside forces, substances, and etc... During the penticle "argument"; it was brought up that the drummer was attempting to rule the band by all his connections in it. This was said by the keyboard player who also expressed interest to write more of the material, even though the drummer always asked for more songs. He always expressed disinterest in writing. He just wanted to play drums. Regardless, he seemed to be the one who wrote and taught the songs to everyone, with the singer always doing his own thing, which was perfect for the situation. The keyboard player, drummer, and singer had known each other since high-school, AND the fact the keyboard player didn't listen to much music that favored guitar, he wanted to eliminate the guitar from the band...like the "original" concept (which had recorded a demo in a very copy & paste way thanks to Computer Editing. The demo was entitled "Donkey Punch"). He also had a friend he wanted to bring in as a drummer. He expressed that he didn't like the bass player's playing and felt the drummer was a better bass player anyway. With the "firing" of the guitar and bass player; it was also told that the keyboard player would now be in control of the "writing". For whatever it's worth...the keyboard player wasn't around much at that time. And when he was...he wasn't. Plus, while the drummer was a technically better drummer than the original, he had a hard time fitting in his "free-form" thinking into the solid song writing of DoucheBag Machete. ...and the whole thing fizzled. The End. No real story after that. Within a matter of a few months, everyone kinda scattered (or stayed where they were). During a time almost equal to that of the truly "original" DoucheBag Machete (now known as OLDSKOOL), where many songs were written and many shows played, the only "songs" ever recorded were seven different, basically, "jams". You can hear the beginnings of the NEW DoucheBag Machete in the bass heavy tracks "TimTim", "The Rant", and "It's Alright". The bass player (and previous drummer) is the guitar player (and MC) plus the singer is ...ummmm...STILL the singer of the NEW two-piece "band". You can also hear the difference in the "jams" and the experimental way DoucheBag Machete had become in essence...DBM-Y25. Four months later, using previously programmed versions (on fruity loops) of past DoucheBag Machete songs, the singer and past drummer/bass player recorded the BTTF Album. This was a two album set of the same hour long session being re-recorded with different vocals and melodies, at two different times. This was also recorded in a truck (both times), driving around town, with a casette player, while the cd player is playing the music tracks. All the vocals were dry. These songs had originally been programmed as timed-beat scratch tracks for the never recorded "professionsal" DoucheBag Machete album. ...and things remained "still" until the end of 2006, when the penticle six hour "X-Mas Album" was recorded. And that's the history that started with "DoucheBag Machete OLDSKOOL" through "DBM-Y25" and into the recent "DoucheBag Machete"!
