Attic Base is a music production team comprised of brothers Mike and Matt Burton, and Matt's wife Melissa Mello. The threesome produce a Modern Rock/ New Wave beat that is fresh and innovative while maintaining a sound that is undeniably rooted in the pioneering efforts of essential groups from the 1980's. They draw inspiration from the sexy grooves of bands like Berlin and Erasure, Xymox and Depeche Mode, and the electro-rock feel of the early works of Nine Inch Nails . Their ecclectic source of influences include New Order, Erasure, Heart, Crystal Method, ABBA, and The Carpenters. “I can’t wait to hear more stuff...your lead singer has one of the most unique voices I’ve heard since Gwen Stefani, Teri Nunn, or Dale Bozio...I love it. I love your sound and look forward to talking in the future.” - Jay Michaels, Director- A&R Universal Music Having already enjoyed commercial radio success with the premiere of their track, “Ultra” hitting the charts on California's SLY 96.1 FM in 1998, Attic Base independently released their debut album, “Action” the following year. Both A Different Drum Records and Kinetic Response Records were involved in production and distribution of their first disc. Several tracks from the album appeared on various CD compilations throughout the nation, including: "Shadow Dancing" from A Different Drum, "Kinetic Art" from Kinetic Response Records, "Now Music for Pop People Vol. III" from Lexicon Magazine and "Venusa XX Vol. I" from Side Line Magazine. By consistently being featured artists on the Mp3.com charts, the trio were offerd an indie label deal from Kinetic Response Records to unleash their follow up effort, the album “Night Vision”, in 2002. Their MP3 chart success also caught the attention of the Director of A&R Universal Music Group, which provided the band with the guidance and motivation to consider delving into songwriting on a professional basis. In June 2003, they were the headlining local act at the annual Dark Arts Festival in Salt Lake City as well as the Battle of the Bands competition at Club DV8 in Salt Lake City. As a result of their radio play on both Salt Lake City’s X96 Live and Local Show and KRCL, their single, “Night Vision”, was selected to appear on X96’s premier local band compilation: X96 Live & Local Vol 1. Attic Base is now in production of their third album, "New World View", which is slated for release October 2007.
