With age comes wisdom. That is the theme of one of Bridgeport, Connecticut’s fiercest lyricists, Uncut. A member of the Deviouz Dollarz team, Uncut has been heard on a number of mix CDs over the years, including the wildly popular “Free Mongo” series of albums. Moving into 2007 Uncut is finally, after nineteen years of honing his skills as an emcee, ready to release his solo debut. Uncut’s story starts in one of the roughest projects in America, Father Panik Village in Bridgeport, Connecticut where he was born and raised in the notorious area. Uncut left to attend school at Virginia State University and The Art Institute of Philadelphia. He also took up residence in Florida for a bit but he felt his hometown calling him. In Uncut’s words” I remain true to the streets that raised me, Bridgeport Connecticut.” The love of where he’s from peppers Uncut’s rhymes with lines like” I’m a self made man, but Father Panik raised me, Gorillas brought me up, thank God a bullet never grazed me.” A few years ago, however, an incident in his own hood temporary derailed his career when Mongo Madness who runs Deviouz Dollarz, the label that puts out Uncut’s music, was sent to prison on an 18-month stay. In mid - 2006 Mongo got his release and Uncut’s career has been blossoming ever since. Having opened for the likes of the legendary Notorious B.I.G., The Lost Boyz, Fat Joe, Fabolous, Lil Mo, and The Bad Boy Family, Uncut knows it’s his time to shine. After all the struggle, years where he said “ I never had people as dedicated to making my shit happen as I was to making their shit happen,” Uncut is finally in a situation he’s happy with and is finally ready to make the leap from local celebrity to national superstar. All the hard work, all the time put in, all the tracks that have been recorded and never released, it is coming together. Patience is a virtue, but the nineteen years of waiting are over for Uncut. Knowing this he says people have two options when it comes to his hustle, “get down or get the fuck out of my way!” Plenty of people in Bridgeport have been down for years. It’s time for the rest of the country to get to know Uncut. You can find Uncut’s music on the web at www.myspace.com/bridgeportconnecticut
