Big American Family is an independent band comprised of strong, sweet, female rock harmonies, acoustic guitar, violin, electric banjo, electric and upright Bass and full drum sound. From the instrumentation alone you would think that Big American Family sounds like country or bluegrass band, but in reality, Big American Family is a group of young family members who express their passion for music together, regardless of the definition. With February marking their 1 year anniversary as a band, each month has lent itself to a new evolution of sound. Starting off with acoustic driven singer/songwriter-esque ballads, breaking out with string driven folk pop, gypsy violin compositions and ending the year with hook driven distorted anthems,Big American Family is a variety of musical elements in one show. Over 2008 Big American Family has performed in venues across Monterey County, California. Entertaining crowds at food and wine festivals, local clubs and private parties. The band’s highlights of the year were, placing as a top finalist in the FOX Central Coast Talent Search and opening for musical icons, The Doobie Brothers at Golden State Theater.
