Angela Baker is from Eastern North Carolina and she is also the third cousin to Ava Gardner. Angela's great grandfather's sister, Mollie Baker, is Ava's mother, who is now deceased. Angela is the last music artist discovered, managed, produced and promoted by the late, great Gospel Music Legend and Promoter “Wally Fowler.” Fowler fostered the music careers of many of the country and gospel greats including Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Sr., Chet Atkins, just to name a few, and Fowler was the originator of the Original Oak Ridge Boys Quartet. Angela and Wally were working together at his untimely accidental death in June of 1994 towards her major label project to be produced by Fowler. Some of Angela’s recording projects include her 1 Hit Country Single “The Hurt In My Heart,” which was released on Platinum Plus Records, located in Nashville, Tennessee during 1997. The Hurt In My Heart single received both national and international radio airplay throughout the world and it charted on numerous radio airplay charts throughout the country. During 1999 Angela was nominated for numerous awards by the Nashville Indie Tracker Magazine and was awarded the Nashville Indie Tracker Magazine “1999 United States Female Vocalist of the Year.” Angela’s other nominations by the Tracker Magazine include those of "Female Rising Star of the Year," "Album of the Year" for That's How Much I Love You, "Christian / Positive Country Artist of the Year," "Entertainer of the Year," "Artist of the Year," and "Website of the Year." As a result of Angela's European radio airplay and worldwide charting status Angela was also a nominee for the Golden Globe Awards held in Nashville, Tennessee on April 29th, 2000. Angela was nominated in the categories of Female Vocalist, Female Rising Star, Album of the Year entitled "That's How Much I Love You", Country/Christian Artist, Traditional Artist and Future Star. During the year of 2003 Angela was nominated by the Country/Gospel Connection fans located in Hobbs, New Mexico, for the categories of “Song of the Year,” New Female Vocalist of the Year,” CD of the Year entitled “Pray, Pray, Pray for the USA,” Horizon Female Vocalist of the Year,” and “Website of the Year.” Angela received awards in each of these categories and received a huge thank you for her willingness to answer the Call of God on her life by using her gifts and talents to further the Gospel of Jesus Christ through Country Gospel, Christian Country and Patriotic music. With each song Angela bares her heart and soul and creates an intimacy between herself and the audience. Angela was discovered by the late, great "Wally Fowler," and is the last artist he produced and was managing at time time of his freak drowning accident on June 3, 1994. Fowler fostered the careers of some of the country and gospel greats including, "The Oak Ridge Boys, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Sr.," just to name a few. Mr. Fowler coached Angela during the months of April and May, 1994 preparing her for the recording of an album to include many song projects he wrote and penned. A quote from Fowler about Angela states, "I was attracted by her voice," he said, "The quality of her voice is like Patsy Cline's." She was often called upon to join Wally at his concert performances. Recently, Angela recorded one of the many songs penned by Fowler in 1967 called, "The Hurt In My Heart." It has been shipped to radio stations around America and is being released on Platinum Plus Records in Nashville, Tennessee. Angela currently has a music video that is available of "The Hurt In My Heart," and it is currently receiving television airplay. Angela has a second CD Album release entitled "That's How Much I Love You." This tune was written by Wally Fowler and Eddy Arnold, then soon became Eddy Arnold's first million dollar hit. Angela released another version of the song and she has a music video that accompanies this release. Now the other great news is that since these two projects have been completed, Angela's songs have been displayed on the Billboard Showcase Online for selected new artists in the entire music industry. Angela's two songs made the Top Ten Category on Billboard and rated numerous times while this site was active. The songs were played on the Billboard Radio BTN since the opening of this website. Angela is very active with performing for the Veteran’s of the United States and she attends many events as a guest entertainer. Angela is currently releasing and promoting her full gospel album entitled “A Closer Walk” that stages its release in July of 2005.
