[p]G O LD The Last Empress (Also known as “Empress Gold”) “Long live the God in I, praise due to The Most High, Infinite wisdom I supply, Eternal lessons I apply.”[/p] It began on April 12th, 1977 . Earth and fire combined with water and Gold was born. She had a purpose; to teach the masses self-love, self-worth, and respect for everyone. She was given tools to assist her in her lessons. They were the African drums, the dances of the motherland and the songs/ lyrics of the African American culture. This she honors just as strong as all of the other cultures that make up the entire universe. Gold’s goal is to reign in the hip hop and R&B industry, as a writer and vocalist. She plans to rain down sweet water cleansings upon the nations of listeners. Gold is the last messenger of The Most High to touch the spirits of the young and the old through verse. After her there will be no more. Gold was born Amina Heckstall, in Brooklyn, New York. By age two, her family had moved to Rochdale Village, Southeast Jamaica Queens, New York. This is where she grew. The performing arts were in her blood from birth, having two creative parents; a father who was a visual artist, actor, singer, writer, and musician, as well as a mother who was an educator and encouraged her to find her own path in life and persist. At age three Gold was enrolled in a dance school and by age fourteen she was rapping and writing her own lyrics. Upon maturing, Gold came up with the concept for a group of talented artist called, “The Light Tribe”. Being a part of this group gave her a taste of what it takes to move a crowd during a performance. With this two female and two male member group Gold performed at many venues across the New York Metropolitan area. Some of the shows included, The Pulse Niteclub, an AIDS Awareness Festival in Harlem, Rio’s Supper Club, Le Bar Bat, an on the spot appearance at Wilson’s, and The Rochdale Village Fall Festival. When the group divided to pursue individual careers, Gold (a.k.a. Empress Reign), came into her own and never looked back. She continued to build her foundation and created, “Light Stuff Entertainment”, which is talented artist that she plans to put on once she has her foot in the door. It is Gold’s goal to be recognized not just as a rapper and vocalist, but also a Songwriter and Talent Developer. Gold - The Last Empress, is a messenger for the hip hop nation. Gold is the one and only representative for, ‘reality’. She is known to talk to her audiences from the heart and spit form the soul. Her name is “Gold” because her friends thought her skin complexion was golden and the name stuck. Once she became an adult, she kept the title when she discovered that gold was a mineral used for healing, in fact it was the Master Healer so strong in it‘s power that it could not be handled by just anyone. With this in mind, Gold embraced the name and decided that she was here to heal the masses. Her purpose in the music industry is to change the face of hip hop by showing the upcoming generations that hip hop is more than sex, money, and weed. It is about being able to express yourself in verse, to move a crowd through the exertion of your own energy and powerful words. Gold wants the masses to realize that you can experience and embrace every aspect of yourself - positive and negative - and still be righteous in deed and thoughts. We are all human and no one is totally perfect. Gold feels that through her lyrics she can cause the world to make a positive affirmative statements and cause life changes without even being conscious of it. The Empress is the next leader of the new school of hip hop. Some of Gold’s solo appearances have included Soca Paradise Club, The Afrikan Poetry Theatre, Nell’s Niteclub, multiple appearances at The Baggot Inn, full sets at The Bowery Poetry Club, several shows at The Lion’s Den, White Wave’s John Ryan Theatre, A Tanabere/ Party in Dakar, Senegal, and many other venues in New York. Her musical influences are what influences are around her but artists she respects are L-Boogie, Roberta Flack, Nina Simone, Donny Hathaway, Method Man, Nas, Eve, and Mos Def. Those are also some of the artists that she would love to work with in the future. Her style is a combination of hip hop, world music, jazzy, R&B funk. Her performances have been known to include live African dancers and drummers to open, even freestyles over the djembe drums to the pleasure of the crowd. What Gold has to offer is fresh and new. With her executive producer and friend since high school, Omen, who has credits under his belt from working with the likes of Fabolous, Amil, Lil’ Kim, and Memphis Bleak, she can’t go wrong. His beats have been noted in XXL Magazine as ‘deep and gangsta’, (as commented about his track on Fabolous’ freshman album). When needed for live shows, The Empress simply calls on her Godbrother the best, but yet most under-rated DJ in New York - DJ GI, (formerly the DJ for The Sporty Thieves and now the Official DJ for Bobby Valentino and Christina Milian) to not only mix, scratch, and blend, but also to be her hype man and get the crowd open. This dynamic union of beats, blends, and flows will have your head nodding off the meter. In March 2006, Gold was awarded the title of first runner-up in VH-1’s Songwriter of The Year contest, for the lyrics in her rap song, “The Golden Era”. Just recently, August 9th, 2007, Gold-The last Empress won the first ever, “Rock Star Arena Showcase & Competition” (judged by the audience) held by Royalty Media at The Bowery Poetry Club in New York City, granting her money, an online/ magazine interview, studio time, and an opportunity to open the upcoming showcase on September 20th, 2007. This is only the beginning of things for Goldey who recently became a member of Nightshift Enterprises - a crew of MC’s, producers, and more that are on their grind all day, every day, ready to make it happen. Empress Gold; No doubt, if the truth doesn’t awaken you to feel this hot, underground, MC, then maybe the drum calls will. Stay open and keep your ear to the street . Gold is the industry’s best kept secret, but not for long. [link="URL"]http://myspace.com/lightstuffentgold http://myspace.com/empressgold[/link]
