Songwriter. Life time playing in bands and writing song and music. Now just writing and recording on my own and playing every instrument myself so only me to blame. Melody, words and message are so important to me. Have written a lot of material over many years but kept it all mostly hid up to now. I write songs about peace, life love and nature and its survival. Guitars are my first instrument followed by keyboards, recorder family, mouthorgan, ocarina and anything needed in a song or piece of music. For a studio I use computer software & a 4 track cassette tape recorder for capturing outside sounds and boosting signals from makeshift sound proofed shed in front room when needed. What a struggle! Well whatever works and there are no spare pennies for anything better! True artists have to starve for their art I am told and that’s more then true for me. I hope that someone out there likes something I have written enough to want to use it. For me songs just get born and then wait around hoping to make a difference one day and shine for a while. My sympathies go out to all unknown songwriters for they are all dedicated diamonds in the dark. Good luck to us all. Videos: ‘Need the trees’ is not meant to be a hit song just a point to ponder. It is unusual in that it is mostly in 5/4 time. ‘Croghan’s view’ is a short classical piece I wrote just after climbing Croghan Mountain in County Wicklow, Ireland. I took my SLR camera with me and put the two loves of my life (music & photography) together into this amateur video. Hope you enjoy it. Songs: 'Bedevilled' is an observation of a friend who had the vampirestic love sick blues. ‘Easy’ is a song about what we all need to do in life and love. Out of all the songs I’ve written this is still a favourite. ‘Stupid.’ If you don’t listen to anything else then please world listen to this. ‘Scot free’ is just a bit of fun & is inspired & dedicated to Robert the Bruce once king of Scotland. ‘Mercy’ is for Earth. Though a short piece it is powerful and needs good speakers; so be warned! ‘Leaving England’. If you have ever felt like an exile from your own country for being a human being with a conscience then this song is for you. It has no electric instruments other then a few sound effects. The classical guitar introduction is to lay the mood. You wouldn’t believe the story behind this song. ‘When’ is a human observation of humans generally and has two parts. ‘Society’. A song to politicians and those who have the power to make things better for the poor and underprivileged (like me) and don’t, even when they say they are. More to come so please watch this space.
