A legend as defined by the Encarta North American Dictionary is somebody famous admired for a particular skill or talent. When we think of examples of some legends unfortunately they have often passed on. Just to name a few in the hip hop world we can start with Eazy E, Left Eye, Aaliyah, Big L, Freaky Tah, and end with of course the Notorious BIG and late great Tupac Shakur. Now when we think of a Living Legend they are often not defined as such they are more so known as icons, until now… Introducing a new generation of rhymespitters Dejon “J Dubb” Miller, Derrick “D Nitty” Abnathya, and Terrance “Grimey T” Nowlin make up Goon Toonz recording group “Liv 'N' Ledgnz” Some say three strikes you’re out, or three’s a crowd, yet in this case it’s more like three is a charm. They all bring a different aspect of talent and stardom to their music that together are sure to produce platinum magic. Not to be compared with other threesomes (no homo) before them Livin Legendz brings a new form of originality to the game that few hardcore rappers can actually claim as reality. The title says it all and their lyrics actually reflect true life scenarios. Dejon Miller BKA “J Dubb” was born and raised in a tough neighborhood out in Newark, New Jersey. The realities surrounding where he was raised and the hurdles he had to overcome are never far from his thoughts. People like to assume that from a young age you know exactly what you intend for your life and future but not in this instance. His ghetto angst has become the foundation to which his rapping inspiration is rooted and his craft is built. Though all members shine, the crew agrees in his essence J Dubb demonstrates a new energy and adds unique flavor to the group. As a person and an artist he definitely knows how to "Get Loose" on that hard New Jersey sh*t… a true “Livin Legend”. Derrick Abnathya AKA “D Nitty” little brother of “J Dubb” has been penning his rhymes from a much earlier age. Acting as hype man for other Goon Toonz recording artists solidified the yearning to introduce his heartfelt lyrics and quick wit to the world. D Nitty has seen his share of struggles but studied the art of MCing religiously and in spite of skeptics ushers in a soulful feel to the squad. Do not mistake his "Brotherly Love" for weakness; D Nitty simply forces an understanding of his loyalty to his sibling through this blazing collaboration. Certainly versatile and anything but predictable, D Nitty …a true “Livin Legend”. Terrance “Grimey T” Nowlin, childhood friend joined forces with Nitty and J Dubb to create what will soon prove to be a well respected and talented urban hip hop group that sets them apart from their predecessors. Grimey T was forced into manhood through fatherhood at a very young age. Growing up in the hood its hard not to be focused on negativity to survive instead he used his life experience and talent toward a more positive and financially sensible goal. This does not indicate that in times of need he will not take the "Desert Eagle" out of hibernation, but just that he has motivation to persevere. Grimey T’s sporadic flow makes him comparable to some of hip hop’s greatest forefathers yet his creative and intelligent lyrics is what creates his diversity and makes him a “Living Legend”. Putting the finishing touches on Goon Toonz Compilation “History in the Makin,” working on their Goon Toonz/Slip N Slide mixtape, and also in the beginning stages of recording their debut release are just a few of the projects currently underway for these gentlemen yet all are sure to have people saying "Oh My God", giving the streets "Something to Hustle to", and having the ladies show them "Where They Got Their Ass From"!
