Central Pennsylvania is more known for its delicious Hershey chocolate than its hip hop scene, or at least it was. Emerging with a razor sharp intellect and raw sense of life's woes, windchILL of Harrisburg hip hop heros, Artists Over Industry, is blazing a trail on the local, regional & international music scene. 2007 marked the beginning of a new path with windchILL's official solo debut, "I Have Arrived", released on indie label STLP. The albums lead single was “Pay Homage” a jazzy tune produced by hip hop heavy weight producer JJ Brown and 5G Productions. In 2009 he continued blazing the path with his long awaited follow up album titled “Self Medication”. The LP takes you on an organic trip, literally, around the world with production credits from: Italy, Germany, Romania, Canada, the United States and more. The album will be released physically by chill himself, on his independent record label Fist Up Records. The digital release will be handled by Diamond Music Group or DMG, operated by Matthew Diamond of Coalmine Records. DMG has been responsible for digital releases from hip hop staples such artists as Pharaoh Monch, Heltah Skeltah, El Da Sensi, Skyzoo and more. windchILL began his journey into hip hop in the year 1996, ever since he’s been writing and recording songs creating a buzz that has expanded far beyond the wide open Pennsylvania corn fields and the overcrowded city streets of Central PA. From four track demos to commercial releases, he is no amateur in a game flooded with fakes. A respected freestyler in local ciphers, windchILL is no stranger to the cut throat business that surrounds the hip hop genre. Armed with an independent attitude, windchILL has taken an active role in the creation of his music, from the infant writing stages to the finished product released to the public; this is the tie that binds every project together. With influences from hip hop's golden era such as The Artifacts, The Roots, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul and Black Moon. He has also been heavily influenced by the underground hip hop movement by artists such as Atmosphere, Dilated Peoples, Jedi Mind Trick, Brother Ali just to name a few. He has evolved into a seasoned performer himself, with an unmatched intensity level. windchILL has toured and shared stages with artists spanning up and down the east coast and as west as Ohio. Rocking stages with national recording artists such as KRS-ONE, Redman & Method Man, Freeway, Rakim, The Pharcyde, Inspectah Deck, Heiroglyphics, Louis Logic, Reef the Lost Cauze, Mr. Complex, Insight, The Procussions and more. Furthermore windchILL is respected by his peers, and recognized as one of the pioneers of hip hop music in the Central Pennsylvania area. Although he is not the first, he has definitely played a major role in the development of the hip hop scene in and around Central PA. windchILL is on a mission to bring back the raw truth lyricism without dismissing heartfelt connections to his listeners, the whole time pushing and elevating the art form forward into the future. Bottom line, windchILL is an emcee with ambitions to bring real hip hop back to the forefront of a genre that has become more of a mockery than an art form. His real life attitude reflects on both the stage and in the studio. With a firm grip on the everyday struggle and a microphone to manifest his cause, windchILL is definitely here to stay.
