My name is Ambrose Dodson aka “The Artist”. I was born into music and there wasn’t a day that went by that I wasn’t either singing or talking about it. My hometown is Memphis, TN, but I live in Virginia now. I’ve been singing since I was at least 5 years old, but when I got up to VA I got more in depth with it and I started singing in the choir at church and at school when I got into the 8th grade. I’ve been singing in talent shows (in & outside of school), and I’ve acquired some other aka’s along the way (i.e., Talent, and Poetik). I began writing poetry and songs when I started my 9th grade year in high school, and I soon began recording out of my best friend Cameron’s garage. We had a little music clic’ going on at the time called the “B.O.T.L” (Best Of The League). In about my sophomore year in high school, I hooked up with a producer/music engineer by the name of C.T. I sort of had to audition for him and some of the other people that were in the ULOV camp. I sang a song (Mary Mary) that one of my role models “Jamie Foxx” sang on one of his comedy tours. After that, it was all up-hill from there. I began to work in the studio day and night, 24/7, writing songs and recording them for opportunities just like this. I don’t have a particular style of music. I mean I sing R&B and Hip-Hop, but I also have some songs with Spanish, Rock, Jazz, and Neo Soul type beats. My ultimate goal is to be at the top as a singer/songwriter and to be one of the best, if not the best at what I do. They say “the first thing you think about when you wake up in the morning is what you’re meant to be”…well for me it’s a famous and wealthy singer, songwriter, and performer. I’m out to prove that I belong.
