Cowardice is, in fact, a solo project created by Final Coil's Phil Stiles. Phil is looking for a contract to release his records to a wider audience. In the meantime he is preparing a solo show to perform in Poland (where he is currently based) and England and is working on the next two Eps. Formed in January 2008, Cowardice was initially just going to be a one-off recording, but after gaining listeners on Lastfm, Phil decided to expand the project to be a full-time concern. The first EP, entitled "Suicide by degrees" was recorded entirely on home equipment in Poland and is available in full here. The second installment is now complete and will go online on March 31st 2008. Phil handles all instrument and vocal duties as well as production on his home computer. Largely influenced by acts such as The Cure, NIN, Levellers, Oysterband, Alice in Chains and The Manic Street Preachers, Cowardice is often bleak and claustrophobic. Impossible to categorise as the music shifts and turns, often in the same song, it is best for the listener to approach this EP with few expectations. I will endeavour to get back to anyone who writes a message or sends me an email as it is very important to foster mutual support within the musical community.
