Bio
A 22 year old student writing & performing with very limited equipment, but with a big vision. Deeply influenced by the great pop songwriters of the likes of Brian Wilson and John Lennon as well as modern pop geniuses like Rivers Cuomo and Mark Oliver Everett. After dissecting the songwriting of John Lennon one afternoon, "All Else" was written almost as an epiphany in the middle of the night. As a throw-back to the innocence of "Stand By Me," it attempts to capture what it's like to be head-over-heels in love. Far from the soothing style of "All Else," "60 Second Ab(ominable Destruction)s" is a distorted burst of pop energy - ripe with handclaps and synths. Meanwhile, "Maybe You Got Something Here" was the result of an attempt to write a Paul McCartney-like song. Despite it's sunny melodies, the song is only bleakly optimistic. Finally, "In My Bed" was one of the most calculated songwriting efforts - meticulously writing each note of the melody repeatedly until reaching total satisfaction. An ode to Brian Wilson's intimate compositions and a more cynical companion to "All Else," this song examines the positives and negatives of those rare perfect moments in life. ------------------- all music, words and recordings by Rhawk copyright © 2008 Rhawk
