NO STRINGS ATTACHED (NSA) is a pop-rock/alternative outfit that features the amalgamation of musicians from varying genres of music. Predominantly, the band features three musicians that had taken part in Suria’s Anugerah Band competition in 2008. Shahril (Drums) and Fadli (Vocal) are members of band X-TECH, while Alif (Guitar) is from the band PUTRA. Both bands did well, and were definite crowd favourites during the course of the competition, aside from being standout players within their bands. The formation of the band came about with the desire to express a more pop-influenced and commercial music within the individuals in the band. Not to be limited only by the confines of the genre of music that they are used to playing, Shahril (Drums) and Aim (Guitar) seek out other members to complete the line up. Enter Fadli (Vocals) and Alif (Guitar) into the fold because of the friendship bonded over the Anugerah Band competition involving X-TECH and PUTRA. Frankie (Bass), who is also a friend of Aim and Shahril, joined in on bass. Syarifah (Vocals) was invited because of her obvious pop and commercial musical influences. She also adds a feminine touch to the band. With this line up firmed up by the dawn of 2009, the band proceeded to write a song called Shadows At Our Heels (first Single). It was recorded & mixed in the late January 2009 at Snakeweed Studio with renown local producer, Leonard Soosay and mastered in the States. Since then, the band has been writing more materials, both in English and Malay and hope to release an EP by the middle of this year.
