Michael Anderson (Mike AZ )is a rapper/songwriter. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, raised in Columbus, Ohio, Mike AZ underwent some tough times after his parents divorced before he was even a teen. He emerged from the heart of the ghetto by avoiding the negative traps many inner city males fall victim to. Following his passions he played ball through high school and began writing lyrics and rapping, picking up the name Mike AZ. Through it all, he remained focused on his education and graduated high school top of his class, was inducted in the National Honor Society and went on to attend The Ohio State University. Although Mike AZ was and still is an avid, highly accomplished and decorated athlete he has always loved music. He’s been blessed with a natural “ear” for music, which allows his rhythmic style. As a youngster, he’s always been interested in music. He knew almost every lyric to almost every song he heard on the radio. From rappers like Jay Z, Fabolous, and Lil Wayne all the way to R&B singers such as Usher and R. Kelly. And he could sing and rap every lyric. He’s also an excellent writer whos lyrics exuberates a certain spirituality and positivity to his message. His music transcends the hip hop influence of today’s music. There is no straining to hear or get the meaning as to what he tries to convey. Mike AZ has a smooth, unique, articulate sound and rap style, in which he fuses elements of R&B, Hip Hop and even Rock & Roll into and exciting and original formula. His sound and style suggest a strong mass appeal to a broad spectrum of music lovers. Getting big props from hard core hip hoppers as well as major accolades from the cool mellowed out R&B listeners. Mike AZ’s continued to perfect his talent and in 2005 formed the group Triple Treat. The group consisting of himself, Mike LA and Night Writa. The group recorded a few songs together such as “What’s Your Name”, “So Dramatic”, and a Mixtape called “Streets On Lock Vol.1” and preformed live around Columbus. However due to artistic differences the group split up and Mike AZ along with Mike LA became the group Da Difference. Together they recorded numerous tracks such as “Get Your Cake Up”, “After Party”, and a mixtape entitled “Icing on the Cake”. And they continued to perform live at various venues around the city. Realizing his potential Mike AZ branched off and went solo and continues to write and rapping hope to gain exposure from a label. He created hits such as “Im Fly “, “Do It”, and Hatas On My Jock”. He has also put out freestyles that have gotten a lot of attention. Mike AZ is working on his first solo album entitled “Long Time Comin’”, which is expected to drop late 2008 early 2009. He shows wit within his lyrics as well as versatility. The most musically inclined artist at the present, who writes and raps all of his lyrics. If you are looking for something different, a change of pace, then Mike AZ is for you. If you want the same ‘ol same ‘ol…glitter, glamour, violence and drugs…you won’t find it with this artist.
