Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Kristal Moon knew she wanted to be a writer at a young age. She began writing poems and short stories in elementary school and wrote her first song at the age of 12. A strong Alto, Kristal was often asked to help vocally arrange songs in school and told she should try singing professionally. Now at the age of 29, this single mother of three has decided to cast her fears aside and go after her dreams of starting her music career, focusing on songwriting. “I never really liked singing”, Kristal said. “It was just something I did because I could;, my passion has always been writing, creating in the background.” Kristal and her sister, Adriene started their own music publishing company, Kensonkeri Music, LLC and have a catalog full of songs just waiting to be discovered. One song, “Shine”, an uplifting overture of positivity, caught the attention of the director for the Little Miss African American Pageant in L.A. and will serve as the competition’s theme song in the near future. This crazysexycool young woman embodies confidence; she is assertive, charismatic, versatile, sassy, and has a bold personality that gets poured into each and every song she writes. “I can pretty much write to any type of music and the words just flow naturally; my talent is definitely God-given”, Kristal states. Her writing style varies in range from R&B and Hip Hop to Rock/Pop to Gospel to Contemporary Christian. She is also influenced by a wide range of singers, musicians, and songwriters, including Carol Kane, John Mayer, Jay- Z, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, The Rza, Wyclef Jean, and many others. When asked how she feels about being a new artist trying to break into the music business, Kristal replies, “I believe in my talent and creativity as a writer and I know that it will get recognized. I was made for this and I’m ready to show the world what I can do. They say you’ve gotta be hungry to make it in this business, well I’m starving!”
