Bio
An award winning singer and songwriter; Edene Timbe is a true survivor. Born and raised in Harare Zimbabwe, Edene was always involved in musical events at school and church, and was a member of both choirs. Edene formed a group with two friends, but her musical dreams were shattered when one member died in a car accident, then the group ended. While attending college in the United States Edene rediscovered her passion for music and embarked on a new musical journey. She got a recording contract with Gramma/ZMC records in Zimbabwe and released her debut album in 2007. Edene won the Best Female R&B Artist for 2007 at the Zimbabwe Music Awards. Edene is a former beauty queen; she won Miss Texas Career Woman of Glamour in 2006. She understands the importance of pageants and how they can be a platform for women. Edene was honoured as the "Most Promising Young Woman of 2008" by the Celebrate A Sista Organisation at their award ceremony in 2008. Edene has always linked herself to programs that empower women and children. It is her belief that educating and giving women opportunities helps a nation and its society. Edene also works closely with Capernum Trust; a Zimbabwe based charity that provides education and healthcare for over 20,000 AIDS orphans in Zimbabwe. Edene's most celebrated song is "One Heart". A song penned origionally for the Zimbabwe Olympic team. The message rings true to many and has become an anthem.
