Don’t expect a 3rd person account of how “wonderful” I am – I’m not big on bullshit, I prefer to tell it like it is. Besides, I couldn’t begin to tell you who “she” is, but I know who I am…I’m as fucked-up and imperfect as everyone else. I make mistakes, have regrets and sometimes struggle to do the right thing. At a young age, my momma infused me with a passion for music, which sparked the most interesting musical trajectory. While no one in my family played an instrument, there was music in every single room of the house. From Top 40s to Rap, Oldies to Dance music, Heavy Metal to Reggae, it wasn’t uncommon for us to gather in the living room to sing and dance. As a kid I took guitar lessons, piano lessons, and voice lessons – but ultimately lacked the discipline to follow through. By the time I hit 16 I had pretty much turned my back on everything. I guess you could chock it up to that period of young adulthood when most of us try to “find ourselves”, which I did – after which I then proceeded to lose myself completely. It would take 6 yrs of silence before a very dear friend of mine said “You have to do it now, or you will never do it at all”. For some reason the timing was right and those words resonated. With my complete lack of musical knowledge I took my melodies and lyrics to the studio to have someone write the music. That’s when I woke up. I had finally scratched the itch that had been buried for so long. Now, clearly I couldn’t write the music that was in my head without the proper tools…so off I went in search of what was missing. It’s been a tumultuous ride with many obstacles, but the moral of the story is...If you can dream it up – you can achieve it. So here it is, my debut CD entitled “Rachel’s Disclosure” - done indie style, with a little help from my friends :) Hope you enjoy it. “This is me, this is who I am…” (Rachel’s Disclosure) – Those are my words…and that pretty much sums it up.
