Shay Ducharme AKA Deuce Tre is a rapper, singer, and producer born & raised in Lafayette, Louisiana. Growing up with young parents, Shay was introduced to hip hop and rap music at a very early age. He recorded his first rap song on tape when he was 9 years old called “My Town” over a Warren G instrumental. He went on to record several albums on cassette before stepping his game up to compact disc in 1999. At this time, Shay began experimenting with sex, drugs & alchohol and his music reflected this lifestyle. He started failing in school, selling drugs, fighting, fornicating and stealing any chance that he could. This behavior lead to him being expelled from high school and in & out of jail numerous times. At the age of 19, after being arrested for possesion with intent to distribute marijuana, Shay found himself at rock bottom in a jail cell and decided to pray and ask God for help. As soon as he was done praying, an inmate that he had never spoken to before walked over to him and asked him if he wanted to join him and a few others for a bible study. Shay agreed and his world was instantly flipped upside down as the Holy Spirit convicted him of his sin and need for a Savior. He knew then that if he continued to live the way he was living that he would end up spending eternity in hell. He also realized that if he was as real as he claimed to be, then he would have to represent the truth from that day forward. This decision meant that he would no longer rap the same. Instead of writing explicit rhymes glorifying sin, he now began to explain the the downside of living the 'thug life'. He developed a passion for God's Word and a hunger for wisdom, spending many nights & weekends reading the bible while other people his age were out drinking in the clubs. After putting out 2 solo mixtapes, God began to put other young believers and Christian rappers on Shay's path and in 2005, they formed a group called Army of One that would include identical twin brothers Face1 & Face2. They released a successful independent album called "Armor of God" and began touring around Louisiana performing in churches, parks and even on the streets of Lafayette. During this time, they met and shared the stage with annointed gospel rap artists Big Five & Big Game, just to name a few. The members of Army of One all ended up going different directions and pursuing different interests in life after a couple of years but now in 2011, Shay Ducharme (Deuce Tre) & his 'brother from another mother' Curley Dean (Face 1) are back in the studio working on their new Christian rap duo album "Ministry-Minded" that is set to be released nationally February 2012. They have teamed up with fellow minister/gospel rapper Lawrence Levy and have currently been performing at his R.O.C. Project events including the "Unity in the Community" concert/outreach series & the "I'm Pregnant, Push!" tour. Deuce Tre is also a faithful member of New Life Church International in Lafayette and serves under the leadership of Pastor Norman Thomas, Jr. along with Face1.
