What is today’s urban culture missing? The Arsenal. The Arsenal is an up coming rap duo that consist of a twenty-four year old Maniac, and a twenty-eight year old CEO. Maniac’s name came from his eagerness to express his activist persona and aggressiveness for bettering his people. CEO represents the entrepreneur aspect of life and lives up to the acronym cash equals opportunity. Maniac aka Yak was born in Saint Louis in 1982.CEO was born on December 16, 1978 in Barstow CA. and moved to Saint Louis nine months later. The two aspiring activist both spent a lot of the time traveling the states and experiencing the ups and downs in life throughout their rewarding struggle. Yak and CEO met in 2002 officially but were familiar with each other through neighborhood encounters. Instantly they clicked when CEO approached Yak promoting his new mixtape. Both of these guys have a natural music talent and background leading back to elementary. CEO grew up breaking, performing at family events and school shows. Yak had an early influence by the name Dr. Mark Davis II a school music teacher that introduced him to the congo drum which lead to his love for hip-hop. Yak and CEO are sure of a promising career ahead because of their new age delivery and sound that is sending a message to the world, ”it’s not about the money”. Even though the two artist have never lived a lavish lifestyle, both individuals are very business minded people. Yak attended two different colleges before he received his degree from Vatterot in refrigeration. CEO is no stranger to hard work by completing his military enlistment and working plenty jobs that didn’t challenge his full potential. The main goal for the Arsenal is to be Saint Louis’s best rap duo, being able to touch the urban culture in ways preachers, teachers and politicians can’t. The objective is also to make a bond between urban and middle aged people who look down on hip-hop. Music is one of the most powerful sources of communication and will be for a long time. Currently the Arsenal has a mixtape on the streets called “THE CLEANSING FORMULA”. The Arsenal has received nothing but positive responses from the nineteen song classic mixtape and is ready for the world to hear. Presently the group is promoting, networking and doing shows willing to work with anyone able to help make this movement come true. So please, think with an open mind and get ready for the journey.
